This small article was published regarding James and Mary Ann Heneker’s descendants. Although it does repeat often published information about James’ life, it is interesting to see the descendants recorded. This would be a great project, working out the increase in descendants as time went on, not sure if it is possible?
A really remarkable family record
is that of Mr. James Heneker, an old
identity, who died lately at Beltana.
He saw Colonel Light’s funeral, helped
to discover the Glen Osmond mine,
and so on. But the special point about
him was that, with the comparatively
small family—for the old days—of
three sons and two daughters, he
lived to see 34 grandchildren and 40
of the generation after that. As a rule,
man’s allotted span is about over
when his great-grandchildren begin
to arrive, and to live to see 79 direct
descendants is a remarkable thing.
