Just a note to say I thoroughly enjoyed reading your blogs about the Heneker family
Your website it wonderful and you should be congratulated for the amount of effort you have so generously shared.
I came across your website as I was looking for the name of the publicans who have run the Hotel in Hawker in the 1940’s as one of my late husband’, cousins married a lad who along with is brother were brought up by his grandparents who run the hotel.
I don’t have a lot of information on these 2 boys but would happily exchanged what information I have with you.

Hi Helen, thanks for the lovely email. I have been pretty slack lately, was sick a lot last year 2017…sounds weird…lol. Also I have been concentrating a lot on my mum’s Jewish East End London ancestors. I really must add some more on the Heneker’s blog. Pity my dad died so young, he always talked about the family and he was born in Hawker too. I would be happy to help out and see if I have any info on your family. Also I do volunteer work at the SA Genealogy society so could always look up stuff if you need it. What hotel was it?? Couple of years ago my brother came over from W.A. (he has lived in Kalgoorlie and now Coolgardie for about 30 years) and we went up to Beltana. We went to Hawker and took some pics of dad’s old home (tin) and it is on that main road that faces the main highway (forget the name) and there is that big hotel on the corner. I forget the name of that too….and can’t be bothered looking it up right now, but it was where there was a big flood once) and they have pics of people standing up on the 1st floor on a balcony. Think it was in late 1800s can’t remember. Went in and had a meal and great talk to the publicans. I love Hawker, I would like to go there to live!!!! My email address is: dharma05@optusnet.com.au
